Is your D365 App for Outlook loading with a blank screen?

First post, so if this is in the wrong spot let me know. I'm not asking a question so much as sharing the answer to a problem that has recently spread among my customer base, my own system included.

Is your D365 App for Outlook add-in showing a blank screen when launching?

Steps to resolve:

  1. Close out Outlook and IE
  2. Open a command prompt.
  3. Run the following command: icacls %userprofile%\Appdata\LocalLow /t /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)L
  4. Go to Internet Options
  5. Delete History and remove the Dynamics Cached/Database
    1. It's under Browsing History/Settings/Caches and Databases

    I wanted to add one other possible cause for this behavior, in the hope it might help someone else.  Webroot Anti-virus has extension for Internet Explorer that can interfere with the Dynamics App for Outlook, since the Dynamics App uses components of IE under the covers.  The symptom of this issue in Dynamics for Outlook is that when you click on the Dynamics 365 button in outlook, you will just get a blank pane, and the Dynamics content will never load.  In addition, if you run Internet Explorer stand alone, it will just load a blank white window (no address bar or other controls), and will eventually stop responding and crash.  Uninstalling Webroot resolves this issue both with IE and the App within Outlook.  

    In our case, we were in the process of switching from Webroot to another anti-virus package, so uninstalling and replacing it with the new AV package was all we needed to do to resolve the issue for impacted users.  We did not dig into if there were other setting in Webroot that could be changed to resolve the issue.
