Can anyone confirm if AX is now a cloud based solution only or if it can still be deployed as an on premise solution?

Thanks

David

Hi David, AX 7 'The new Dynamics AX' is cloud based. On premise is available now as AX 2012 R3, AX 7 later.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Tim,

Thanks for your reply. When you say that AX7 on premise version is later, what do you mean by "later"

Well you should google "when is AX 7 available on premise" or similar - lots of theories but no very firm dates as far as I know. Maybe someone else has been keeping an eye on the announcements. It's not my area. Sorry.

Microsoft is planning to announce the Dynamics AX product roadmap on the AX User Group event next month. They will probably announce that AX 7 on-premise, and the data upgrade from previous versions will be available when the Azure Stack is published, however these are just speculations.

    Hi David,

Have a look at the next thread for some other background information related to your question: community.dynamics.com/.../206791

As your title is stating something about choosing between NAV and AX, can you indicate the deeper meaning of your question? Have you also read the latest information about Dynamics 365? E.g.: community.dynamics.com/.../reinventing-business-processes

Ax 2012 R3 is still available on premise or can be hosted on Azure.

Ax7/RTW is currently only available on cloud with a minimum of 20 Enterprise users or equivalent.

It will be available when the Azure hybrid technology stack,   and Microsoft specified servers are available. The azure stack when into public preview this week. The expectation is that maybe Mar-May next year we will have an on-premise option.

Note Dynamics 365  with Ax 7 is an all-inclusive offering with much more favourable pricing.
