Package execution failed please check event log in DMF service box- (D365 Finance and Operations - Data Management)

Hi Experts,

In Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Data management workspace, I am trying to import data (Import project) using a custom entity. The import is working fine on the same entity on DEV and UAT environments but it is sometimes giving error in Live environment. The error states

Package execution failed please check event log in DMF service box-
'0' 'XXXX' record(s) inserted in staging

No detailed error in the infolog and no record in the staging data.

As this is a Live environment, I do not know where to check the event logs. What can I do to resolve this issue? Any help will be appreciated

Regards,
Muhammad Ahmed

    Hi Muhammad,

When you go to the environment details on LCS, you can open the environment monitoring for details. Can you tell if the same file is sometimes working and sometimes failing or is the contents different?

Did you check the staging data? Did you check the file for duplicate data, empty rows at the end of the file or incorrect data like date or number format?

    Hi Muhammad Ahmed Pervaiz,

Try to check your source file. I assume it might contain blank rows or columns, blank required fields, duplicate unique values.

    Hi André,

Thanks for your reply. I'll try checking the environment monitoring.

The data in the files are not the same, but similar. I am also trying to find out the difference(s) in the data from the file which processed and the one which failed.

One thing is for sure, that there are no duplicates or empty rows.

    Hi Galyna,

Thanks for your reply. As suggested, I've checked for blank rows or blank required fields but there aren't any. Looking for other (any) discrepancies in the data.

    Hi Muhammad,

Were you also able to find some additional logs (if available)?

What happens if you process the wrong file manually? Does it continue then or do you have the same error then?

I would recommend to delete and re-create once and see if the issue occurs.

    Hello Muhammad Ahmed,

Is there any master data reference in this case? With recurring integraitons, we usually face this issue if there are any master data issues.  Have a look at the Infolog and this will give you details of the error.

    Questions:
    1. Which entity are you referring to here in this case?

    Thanks,

    Hi Muhammad,

Which source format you selected while importing the records. The below blog post mentions the same error and resolved this by using csv format.

Can you please try that and let me know how it goes ?

    Thanks,

    Baber.

    Hi Baber,

    Thanks for your reply.

I am already using the same format i.e. CSV for this import. There is one file in particular now which isn't working and the rest are doing fine. I suspect there must be some issue with the data there. I am checking that.

    Hi Navneeth,

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes there is some master data reference but I've double checked and the master data is correct and nothing is missing there. However, there are some string fields in the data that might be causing the problem.

As far your question is concerned, it is a custom data entity related to General Journals (as we have some customization in the General Journals) here.
