GDAP Auto Extend

I have a GDAP relationship setup for one of our BC customers that is set to expire.  Auto-Extend is enabled, but I vaguely recall the account may have already been auto-extended once before.  Below is a screenshot of the admin relationship and the associated Entra roles.  Can I be reasonably assured will the auto-extend kick in on May 11, or do I need to plan on establishing a new GDAP relationship?

Good morning, afternoon, or evening depending on your location!

Based on the details in your screenshot, your GDAP relationship is currently active and Auto-Extend is enabled, meaning it should automatically extend by six months on May 11, 2025. However, there are a few key considerations:

    1. Auto-Extend Behavior
    • When Auto-Extend is enabled, the GDAP relationship does not expire on its scheduled end date. Instead, it rolls forward by six months, eliminating the need to manually request a new GDAP or obtain customer consent.
    • If your GDAP has already been auto-extended once, it should continue extending unless disabled.
    2. Limitations on Auto-Extend
    • GDAP relationships with the Global Administrator role cannot be auto-extended. Your screenshot shows multiple Entra roles, but Global Administrator is not listed, so this should not be an issue.
    • If Auto-Extend was disabled at any point, the relationship will expire as scheduled.
    3. Best Practice: Verify in Partner Center
    • To be 100% certain, check the Partner Center under Expiring GDAP Relationships. You can filter by upcoming expirations and confirm whether Auto-Extend is still active.
    • If you see the relationship listed as expiring, you may need to manually establish a new GDAP.

    Hope this helps some!

When Auto-Extend is enabled for a GDAP relationship, it automatically renews the relationship by an additional 6 months upon reaching its expiration date. This process continues indefinitely—there is no limit to the number of times a GDAP relationship can auto-extend, provided that Auto-Extend remains enabled and the relationship isn't manually terminated or altered.

Therefore, if your GDAP relationship is set to expire on May 11, 2025, and Auto-Extend is enabled, you can reasonably expect it to auto-renew for another 6 months around that date.

    Appreciate all the responses.

    Holly,

Thank you for the tip.  I was not aware of the "Expiring Relationship" page.  That is good to know.

I agree with below and auto-extend can trigger automatically only once per relationship. Its good enable it by default on the safe side.

    Thanks
