I am looking to make a class attendance piece into an app I have and I am unsure exactly how to go about it.

My current Plan:

Table Student
- Name
Table Attendance
- Date: Date/Time
- Class: Choice
- Present: Lookup-Student Attendance
- Out: Lookup-Student Attendance
Table Student Attendance
- Attendance: Choice
- Many-to-Many to Student

Any guidance or recomendations are welcome. :)

D365 consists of many different applications, such as Finance & Operations, Sales or Business Central. You're asking in D365 general forum, therefore it's not clear which product you have in mind. Please add this information.

Hi Bahalzamon,

I have created the following two tables based on my understanding.

1.Student table, containing only the original name field.

2.Student Attendance form with four custom fields.

1)Choose Student: Lookup field - Lookup student table

2)Class: Choice field

3)Date: Date and time field

4)Attendance: Yes/no field

You can create a new view in the designer to make it easier for you to find records.

Thank you for your post. Yes how you have it there is easiest for myself and to ensure proper data connectivity.

Part of the problem is that there are anywhere from 15-30 students that attendance needs to be taken, doing it this way will take quite some time, that is why I was inclined to use the Many-to-Many relationship which within a subgrid will allow me to select the Add Existing Student and select the multiple children in one go.

Correct, as this is for Dynamics 365 and not one of their additional modules.
