Display fields from Account entity on Lead forms

Hi,

Looking for some help with a D365 CE (CRM) problem. I've added the Customer lookup as a field to the Lead form on the Lead entity. That works fine. But, I'm struggling with being able to display some other fields from the Account entity (such as website URL and some custom fields including Linkedin company page URL and so on) based upon associating an account to the Lead.

Anyone know of a good step-by-step article or video or some such that would guide me through accomplishing this?

Thanks very much!

    Hello,

It look like you scenario is the perfect usecase for "Quick View" form feature - www.marksgroup.net/.../

As the other poster shared this can be tricky as most of the entities are separate from others even if the fields are similar.  A Quick View form may solve some of this scenario - docs.microsoft.com/.../create-edit-quick-view-forms.  Also, if the data is static you could use Field mapping as long as the two entities have a relationship docs.microsoft.com/.../map-entity-fields.

    Andrew,

Thanks for your reply.  I'm aware of Quick View forms.  Things is I need the fields on the existing Lead main form.  Quick View doesn't give me that.

Thanks Brandon.  There already is an OOTB relationship between Lead and Account, but because it is N:N I can't create a mapping as mapping is only supported for 1:N.

Ok. Isn't it possible to customize existing lead main form and add Quick View Form of the account to it? Looks totally doable for me when there is a lookup field that points to account. But according to your other reply you meant N:N relationship (and you didn't mentioned that in your question and this led to 2 correct answers but to other question). So the only way I see is to develop the plugin that will sync those fields between account and lead.

    Good luck.

I'm an idiot.  For some neurons-not-connecting reason, I had tried creating the new custom QV under the lead entity, instead of under the entity I'm trying to query (accounts in this case).  So, when I tried to add the fields I wanted they weren't available to be added.  Once neurons realigned I realized I had to create it under the account entity and then add to the lead form.

101% my bad.  Thanks for your help and patience.
