How to deploy Dynamics AX 2012 R3 / AX7 on a Google Apps + Mac Pro book landscape

Hi,

We have a lot of Mac Pro and Google Apps (Email + Docs). We are looking for Dynamics AX as a ERP suite for our fast short term growth. How to deploy AX ? We can go for a private cloud and wait for AX7. But then the Mac Pro users will login in to a terminal server. And how to connect Mac Pro users who work locally (developers, R&D staff) having to enter time sheets?

J.

With AX 7, users will probably be able to use the AX client directly from Macs. Developers will have to use Windows (remote or virtual machine).

In current version of AX, the client runs on Windows only. If you need the full client (and not just Enterprise Portal), a terminal server sounds the best approach.

    Hi,

With developers I mean Software Developers for the products we make. Not the AX developers. Can they write time without having a RDP/ Citrix? We do not have Active Directory by the way

As I already said, if you don't want to use the AX client, you can use Enterprise Portal (= a web application exposing a subset of AX functionality).

Also look at the Dynamics AX app on the App Store; unfortunately I don't know anything more about it.

Microsoft Dynamics AX must belong to an Active Directory, it’s a mandatory requirement.  As Martin mentioned,  Enterprise Portal (EP) and even the App for tables only exposes limited functionality. EP has more functionalities than the app.  If you don’t have an AD, you could take a look at Azure for AX deployment.
