Unified Interface - run workflow against RELATED records - no Flow/run workflow button in related grid toolbar

Hi all,

For info referencing crm11 v. 9.1.0000.4232  (April 2019 updates enabled), but imagine same across current environments.

  • On Classic forms in a ‘related grid’, you can select child records and from the grid’s toolbar click a toolbar button to run an on-demand workflow against the selected records.
  • On UCI (Unified Interface) forms in a related grid, there is no button in the toolbar to run a Flow/workflow against the selected child records.

I've looked at the same record through the same form, in default app and then UCI app (and also checked other instances same version): the button in the related grid toolbar on UCI is simply not there.

We run a lot of workflows on (selected) related child records, by accessing the related records grid of a parent record.  Can't think of a workaround, short of going to Advanced Find and each time adding the criteria of a look-up to filter down to the desired parent...  (Not an acceptable equivalent!)

Can this loss of funcionality be intentional/ permanent by Microsoft?

    Any update on this ? can we run or not the Flows or Workflows from Related records in CRM ?

    I had this issue on one instance but not on the other. After comparing both environments, I could see that the 'Enable Microsoft Flow'  was set to No in the instance I was experiencing the issue, but set to Yes in the instance where I could see the Flow menu option!

    The newer UCI has not all the features of classic UI.

    Some have been removed and others have been modified in order to bring efficiency.

    I believe with time the UCI will evolve and you'll get all the features you need.

    Hey guys

    Has this been resolved yet? We're now being pushed by MS to move clients to the UI and we've got most  features available to us but I'm not seeing the ability to run Flow or workflows against sub-grid records.

    Any advice appreciated

    Any solutions to this? I see than you can use flows to run on a single record. But how can we ran on demand workflows on multiple records?

    Kokulan  Coincidentally, I've just replied to you on a different recent post (routing error on UCI queues)!  Thanks for your reply on this UCI issue - running workflows on related grids - and for the suggestion of Ribbon workbench.  I do have a case open with MS regarding this, in the hope they will at least rule out the fear this is permanently 'by design' , i.e. we can hope for the functionality to be re-added into UCI, as you are optimistic of!  I will update if/when something useful comes from this.

    Hi

    UCI is still evolving and it is still not in full feature parity with Classic UI

    We won't get every single feature of Classic UI on UCI as some have been combined or removed for improving performance

    Running workflow is one of the key ones, I think will be added to related record subgrid toolbar in the future.

    But I don't see why you couldn't  consider adding this by yourself, have a look at the link below
