Form data saved in Marketing before Double opt-in confirmation

Posted on by 75

Hello,

I have a problem with the per-form double opt-in. I have enabled it for an event registration form including all the mandatory fields and a Confirmation URL within the confirmation email, however, the data from the form is registered within Marketing before customers even click on the Confirmation URL within the confirmation email, which is not compliant with our policy.

Could you please assist me with this issue?

Thank you very much in advance.

All the best, Marianna

@Marianna, did you find the solution for the issue? I have the similiar issue where a contact is being created before the user confirms the opt in.
Please let me know if you found ever a solution for that.
    Thanks in advance and regards.
    Z.

RE: Form data saved in Marketing before Double opt-in confirmation

Thank you very much for the answer, this clarifies it. However, my question is then how to proceed when a company is based in country such as Germany that legally requires within their regulation to enable double opt-in for Contact creation (confirmation through email is required before any personal data is stored within the environment) from form registration and not only for consent & subscription changes?

Is there a way of how to handle this within Dynamics 365 Marketing maybe through a different functionality than double opt-in?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Marianna,

Please refer to the following section:

Set up double opt-in to confirm changes in consent level and subscriptions

The Double Opt-in only works when changing a contact's consent level or adding a subscription. It will not block the creation of contacts when they register an event.

For example, if you drag a subscription list into the event registration form and use it to register a certain event.

The contact will be created immediately but will not be added into the subscription list – S 01 until the contact has clicked the confirm button in the confirmation email.
