Scheduling data management recurring integration

Hi All,

We get Customers, Invoices, and Payments into D365 F&O from a third-party application using Data Management recurring integration. The third-party application will send the data once daily.

We are currently planning to configure all three import projects with a 5-minute recurrence interval to ensure readiness. However, since the actual data import will only occur once per day, I wonder about the potential impact on database storage and system performance due to frequent polling.

Any insights or suggestions on best practices for managing this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

    Hi,

For data arriving once a day, having a batch job recurrence for the import every 5 minutes is not the best approach. This could be a valid approach for data arriving continuously all the time. If the job logs every execution, it could generate a large number of log records daily.

To keep things manageable, consider configuring the job to log only errors instead of every run. I suggest ensuring it’s not logging every time it has executed, but only errors.

Also, if the data arrives just once a day, setting the job to run every 5 minutes might be overkill. It could make more sense to schedule the job to run once or twice daily, shortly after the data is received, to align with the data’s availability.

    Hi,

Can you tell us if you receive full data sets or only the changes?
Why do you consider a 5-minute recurrence when the data is delivered once a day?

    Hi,
If you have scenarios requiring a 5-minute recurrence, it’s important to evaluate and apply best practices carefully.
For high-frequency integrations via Recurring Integration — I recommend the following:
-Set up clean-up jobs for both batch jobs and DMF execution history to manage database storage effectively.
-From a performance perspective, evaluate each scenario individually to determine the optimal configuration.

In general, it’s a good practice to:
-Align job start times and recurrence settings carefully.
-Use a dedicated batch AOS (Application Object Server) for these high-frequency integrations if possible, to balance the load. I do recommend to take this step with the system Architect.
