Hello,
I have a linked environment (FO <> CE) that has been used for testing the DM activities. It's a disposable environment intended to allow it to be reset and re-run between each migration into production (I have many to do) and I'm looking for a a quick/efficient way to reset the test DM environment back to a clean state (before data is migrated) to retest my process. I know that I can drop the environment and create a new one but that requires custom solutions to be readded, linking to be re-established and master data to be entered. I could also try deleting all the records in reverse order (to ensure dependencies are accounted for). Both of these seem a bit lengthy and I was wondering if there is a quicker way to clean out my test DM environment?
Thanks,
Mike
Although this keeps changing in minor ways I dont believe there is any "quick" way to do this. I would have a backup of the master data of each environment (Gold) to restore which were created in a linked environment, restore these and then then activate the maps after linking FO to the existing PP environment. Happy to be told there is a quick way but resetting an integrated environment that keeps the data in synch is not easy.
Hi Stephen,
That's what I was finding and was also hoping to find that someone more experienced than I could tell me otherwise.
I do have a Gold environment I can copy from but am unsure of the procedure to do this. Are you aware of any helpful procedures I could be pointed at to describe the process in more detail?
Are you a member of the Yammer group for Dual Write?

I know of lots of contradictory information on Learn, and some out of date etc. I don't know of a single place telling you what to do.
In essence from a connected Gold Build you would
It is not a great story, but it is one ever changing, Microsoft know it is not great and are (apparently) working on it.
I wasn't a member of that group but have submitted a request to join now so thanks for the suggestion.
It's that contradictory/dated information which is causing me to post here about this topic since I can't find a straight answer anywhere.
When you say "1. Step the maps" should I read this as "1. Stop the maps" as otherwise I don't understand what you're suggesting.
Yes, stop the maps, I have edited it, apologies for the confusion!!
Learn has a lot of contradictory information, if it is any help I ask a project being run by Microsoft how they were managing it, they said "standard" and sent the customer the links. I had to then point out they could not be doing it that was as the link/unlink option was removed in previous versions.
Hopefully you are in the group now
