Goals and "Participating Records". Is this right?

Posted on by 10

Hi all,

We're setting up goals in Dynamics 365 and the goals seem to be rolling up properly, but I have a question on how "participating records" work.  It seems that the participating records for goals are showing all opportunities for that goals timeframe.  It's not showing just records with a dollar amount that contribute to the rollup total.  It's showing all records even though some of those records might have a zero in the field that is being rolled up.

Is this normal behavior?  How are users supposed to see all records which had a dollar amount that contributed to the rollup numbers for their goals?

Best Regards,

Phil

    Hi Phil,

"Participating records" are those that meet the filter criteria for the Rollup Query. A record with a zero value is still included in the rollup, but it doesn't, obviously, increase the rollup total.

If you want to exclude the records with a zero value, you can add a clause to the Rollup Query (e.g., "AND Estimated Revenue does not equal 0").
