Outlook integration

Hi,

Our company has Dynamics 365 field service installed in environment A we also have a model driven app using the default account and contact table in environment B. A large group of our users is using both, the context is completely different, so a separation of of both in seperate envrionments is completely normal. We want to set up an outlook integration with both apps. So that in Outlook users can easily find contacts from the Dynamics system and contacts from the model driven app.

Is that possible? I read that a user can only have an Outlook integration/synchronization with one Dataverse environment. Are there alternatives, workarounds?

Thanks!

You're right — working across different environments and integrating with Outlook is a common challenge for end users. Unfortunately, there isn’t a straightforward solution; you'll need to switch environments each time you want to use the app in Outlook.

    Thanks

Thanks for your reply. This switch environments each time you want to use the app in Outlook is not something the user can do easily do? This is a backend setting or is there a way for the end user to choose to which environment they want to connect?

    Thanks

    Hello @Jurbe48,

There is no straight forward way to do this. If you still want to do than following are ways you may implement by doing customizations.

Option 1: Create new Virtual tables in environment B for accounts & contacts . You can have different names like "FS Account" or "FS Contact". Using virtual tables, you can retrieve data from external/third party systems. Please refer limitations of virtual tables before implementing.

Option 2: Create an integration between env A & B. You can do using nightly jobs using Azure Data factory or Implementing Power Automate or other tools.
This job will push data from environment A to environment B.

Let me know if it helps you.
