Export a data import template

Posted on by 25

Hi,

I'm trying to export a template which contains all fields related to the Account entity.

I've read on a number of discussions in here, that a (main) form of the entity needs to contain the fields.

When I create a template for data import for the Account entity, a number of fields are exported, yet not all. Comparing the export to the standard main Account form, I can see a couple of fields in the template that are not on the form and a couple of fields that are on the form, but not in the template.

Can you please suggest how a field is set to be exposed on the template and another is not.

Thanks,

Neal

    Hi Neal,

Refer this blog to understand the template behaviour. Basically it depends upon the form. For LastCampaignDate, I think the reason why this is not visible is because you can set this field (I may be wrong).

As a general practice I follow for data import is to create an advance find view with all the columns which I want to import. And then a filter which will never be true so that the results returns should always be zero.  So now if you say export to excel, you can use this excel for data import as well. With this little approach, I save my time of manipulating fields on the form :)

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Diego,

Following fields on the form, which are not in the template:

    - Last Campaign Date

Following fields on the template, but not on the form:

    - Account number

    - Email

    - Other Phone

    - Relationship Type

    - Price List

    - Preferred Day

    - Preferred User

    - Preferred Time

Annual Revenue / Number of Employees / Owner are in the header and not the body. These are exported to the template.

    Hi Neal Jacobs!

What fields are not in the template? Are custom fields? Where the fields are placed in the form? Custom fields should be in body (form) not in header or footer.

    Regards!
