What is the purpose of the "item sales control" form in Sales and Marketing

I am trying to establish what added value the 'Item sales control' form gives you during the sales process, but i am struggling to find documentation.

I set up an item sales control to Discourage the sales of a specific item starting two days ago for a specific site. I created a sales order and a sales quotation to see if it doesn't perhaps present a warning of some kind but nothing happens.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Liese-Marie,

    There is indeed not good documentation for this. Also for me, I had seen something briefly before, but cannot remember all details. It is part of the call center functionality. It is used to encourage or discourage items during upsell or cross selling. From the customer service page there was somewhere a button to see item information and from that form a button for upsell. I do hope this will guide you where it is used. As far as I know, there is no check on sales quotations or orders.

    Thank you Andre for the guidance. We are not currently using the Call center functionality but your tip will definitely help in future.

    Hi Liese-Marie, I know this is an older thread and is marked as answered but here is what Item Sales Control does for anyone else looking since there is zero documentation:

    1.) Create an Up-Sell / Cross-Sell Variable / Condition / Rule at Sales & Mktg -> Setup -> Up-Sell / Cross-Sell.

    2.) Create Scripts at Call Center -> Setup -> Scripts.

    3.) On the Released Product -> Setup Tab in ribbon -> Up-Sell / Cross-Sell  create the corresponding Up-Sell / Cross-Sell item relations.

    4.) At Sales & Mktg -> Setup -> Sales order -> Item Sales Control, create the encourage / discourage rules for the dates / items that you want to encourage the Up-sell / Cross-Sell of.  Note that the inventory dimensions entered here need to be at the same granularity as the dimensions displayed on the Up-Sell / Cross-Sell form when it pops from the SO line.

    5.) If you did everything correctly, when you key an item to the SO line, the Up-Sell / Cross-Sell form will pop up.  The column "Item Sales Control" will  have a red down arrow if you are wanting to discourage sales of that particular item, or a green up arrow if you want to encourage sales of that specific item.
