You can do it on LCS. Please refer to docs: Refresh database for details.

Neither source code nor compiled binaries are stored in database anymore, therefore this part isn't applicable to D365FO.

    Hi Tony,

For database, you can request the database backup of production to your UAT environment.

Please refer to the following blog:

    rahulmsdax.blogspot.com/.../production-database-backup-request.html

If you want to backup/restore the code, you can get the backup on tier-2 environment.

Have a look at the old thread:

Yes, that's correct. The Move database option is used for target environment, not source environments. You can't restore a database from another environment to production. You can see that the first step of instructions says "Visit your target sandbox on the Environment Details page […]".

By the way, production database is backed up automatically. You don't have to do anything for it and you also can't influence it in any way. I assume you want to do something with the data, such as using it for testing - that's when you nee the data refresh procedure.

    Hello Tony,

MS makes regular backups of your productive environment and ensures that you system is always up and running.

Why do you want to make an additional/extra backup?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello Tony,

To add to what Martin and Dr. Ludwig said, you can request for a Prod database back from Microsoft every 15 days. The Microsoft team will send you a backup of the PROD database every 15 days.

    Thanks,

You can't connect to the production database and take a backup - Microsoft won't give you access. Instead, follow the link I gave you at the very beginning: Refresh database.

    Let me quote it:

A database refresh lets you copy the transactional and financial reporting databases of your production environment into the target, sandbox UAT environment.

It's exactly what you need, isn't it?
