Purchase requisition - Project categories is empty

Hi All,

I'm trying to create a purchase requisition for a project.  At the Project categories drop down box (screenshot 1), it's empty.  There is no project category to choose from even though the project category has been set up (screenshot 2).  Am I missing something?  Thanks

    Hi Kim,

Please open the procurement category. It has a project category linkage field available. Establish this link and try selecting the procurement category again.

    Best regards

    Ludwig

Thanks, Ludwig, for your feedback.  Are you referring to this page?  If so, I don't see the link. Do you mind share a screenshot?  Thanks so much!

    Hello Kim,

If you scroll down a bit you should see the following drop down selection field

Thanks, Ludwig, for your screenshot.  I right click at the Category page field>View details to see if I could add the project category here.  I had an error on screenshot 2.

I also added/linked Pipeline repairs category to Category groups, Share categories and Project categories and it's still not show up in the Category page in procurement category page (screenshot 1).   Am I missing something?  Thanks!

    Hi,

Have you already checked LCS for available fixes?

Are you operating the latest D365FO version?

Do you know if adjustments have been made to the procurement categories or the project categories?

    Best regards

    Ludwig

    I'll check the LCS fix.

    Our version is 8.0

I don't believe there is an adjustment mad in the procurement categories.  When you say "adjustment", what do you mean? Could you be more specific?  Thanks.

    Hello Kim,

After taking another look at the navigation path of your screenshot I noticed that we are literally not on the same page.

Can you open the procurement categories from the product information management module? In this module you can select setup-categories and attributes - category hierarchies.

Select the one that is created for procurements and then open the category form.

There you should have a tab denominated 'assign project categories' available.

Can you check that in your system and try assigning a project category?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thanks, Ludwig.  I'm not sure I get the idea.  I would think that after I clicked Add at the Category pages, it would add the Inspection Services category to the Assign project categories, but it's not.  What is the purpose of adding a category to the Category pages?  Then to add this Inspection service to the Assign project categories, I right click on it and add (see arrow)?  So, it's not really telling the system that I'm taking this Inspection service category and put it in the project category.  I'm actually creating a new one.  I'm a little confuse...

    Hi,

The idea of linking the category is ensuring that the correct project category is used for recording a transaction with a procurement category. It also saves time for entering transactions

As an example you create a PR or PO that it related to a project. Then you select a procurement category and AX defaults the corresponding project category. This saves time and ensures that the correct project postings are made.

Not sure why it doesn't work in your case. Probably take a look at the MS docs sites to verify whether a setup has been overlooked.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
