Unable to add a new SharePoint document location in D365 Customer Engagement

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello. we are new to Dynamics 365 so we have a lot of account documents that do not live in the default SharePoint site folders. Rather than moving them, we'd like to point each Account to the URL of the existing folder. When trying to add a new SharePoint document location via Document Management Settings, I'm getting a 'this entity is read-only' error. When trying to add a new location directly from the account entity, the URL is not resolving.

Has anyone dealt with this before? any guidance appreciated.

It doens't works because in Sharepoint Sites entity we cannot change this option. Any other option? I do not find the option to go to classic UI

Do we have any solution for this ? Rather than reverting back to Legacy Web Client.

I am trying to create "SharePoint site" record. but getting same error.

    Hi

Could you refer to the link below and see if this helps you to get the updating/adding new document location working for UCI?

The issue wasn't about roles/permissions. It was our move to the modern UI that made the SharePoint location read only. Moving back to the Legacy UI made it so I could add new SharePoint locations. thanks for following up.

Thanks for sending this over. Seeing your screenshot made me realize that it was our recent upgrade to the Unified Interface that made the SharePoint Site read only. dyn365pros.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-365-unified-interface.  I really appreciate you taking the time to send the screenshots. I thought I was losing my mind.

    Hi

I have just tried adding a Doc Loc from Document Settings -> Document Locations and it allows me to add. If the URL does not exist, it does give a warning but it allows me to create the document location. Please see below

Could you please make sure you have sys admin role or permission to document location and SharePoint site entities?

If you are still having the issue, could you please screenshots of the steps you are following and of any error message?
