Database refresh from Production to Sandbox - Configuration restore for sandbox

Scope: Customer managed /self-service Dynamics 365 environment (Finance and Operations module)

Operation: Refreshing database from Production to Sandbox environment

Challenge:

We have environment specific data (interface parameters) which I believe will be over-written as part of the database refresh. Is there a scripted/automated approach that can be utilized to restore/update the environment specific connection data after the refresh is completed from production.

The below document states that 'The admin user must make the required configuration changes,..' but does not state how?, is that manually everytime?

docs.microsoft.com/.../database-refresh

  • The Admin user must make required configuration changes, such as reconnecting integration endpoints to specific services or URLs.

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ankit

Currently, I am using Data packages to import all the configurations in the environment after a database refresh with the exception of the below values due to security reasons (not allowed by Microsoft)
    - Key Vault Parameters

    Hi Ankit,

In addition to the option provided by Gunjan, you can also consider importing a data package or create a Power Automate flow to set the environment specific values.

    Hi Ankit Khirwadkar,

Yes. This needs to be done every time. Depending on where you are changing the configuration, you can do that manually or check if you can write a script in SQL that can update the necessary tables. You can run this script along with the script we run to enable all the users.

I'm moving this to D365 Finance from D365 ProjOps for better visibility and answers.
