Hi,

My main object is to use an RDL file as a design in My SSRS Report Project. How to add this existing item in my Visual Studio Project?

Thanks for help.

Thank you Sohaib for all your response. Frankly I was in a hurry with a customer Delivery so my lead preferred to repeat the design. Thank you for all your suggestions. Certainly this is very helpfull .

    Regards,

There are no guarantees, after you have lost your USR layer.

If you don’t have a backup you can try following on any server. I don’t see any risk in trying it (after you have lost your customized layer object and it is already in SYS layer)

    1)     Open VS WITH USR Layer and create a new AX reporting model project

    2)    No try to import RDL file into VS project by selecting add existing item.

    3)    Try to compile and deploy.

I am not sure if this can work or not, but you may give it a try.

Another option can be trying to copying paste xml from existing RDL file to SalesConfirm report, as you will open VS project from AOT.

    Update:

See next post, once i played with XML to make different versions of the report work, if you can open XML of existing RDL, you can try to paste it in standard report on VS.

Worst case: redo your customization :) [I know everyone would hate this option, please start using version control]

In AOT I see just the 3 standard Design of SalesConfirm SSRS Report. While when the project was deplyed it was in the USR Layer. the problem is that report is shown now in the( sys) layer. How display it from USR layer please?

    Hi,

did you connect your VS to the right client configuration?

If you don't see this report (design) from within application explorer of VS, you're maybe connected to the wrong environment?

    regards Douglas

Thank you for the quick response Sohaib.

Actually it is the sales Confirm SSRS report wich was modified and deployed. I can see the design in my report server but unfortunately not in my AOT neither in my Visualstudio project. Also, by clicking in the menuitem the desired Design is displayed. I'm confused what is the problem! Help Please.

Is that a standard SSRS RDL..? and  not AX-SSRS RDL..? if so, you cannot use it directly except saving little time at designing.  AX provides no way to import external RDL files in AOT

If you want to do modification on Existing SSRS report you have to modify relevent existing project and deploy. But if you want to create new SSRS report you must create project in AOT and then add SSRS report to Project .

as far as I know you cannot attach RDL file directly to the Project.

    Thanks & Regards,
