Security Roles vs License for Dynamics 365 Sales Professional

Posted on by 10

Hello,

I have seen related questions but not quite this point.

My client has a new Sales Professional installation, 4 licenses.

Looking in My Apps and Manage Roles for the Sales Professional App, I see just 5 of the possible security roles as highlighted/selected.
Other roles such as Marketing Manager are not selected.

Can I select eg the Marketing Manager role for use in this App and be sure I am within the terms of the Sales Professional license?

Or do I have specifically check the permissions inside the role and ensure that they do not breach the terms of the license?

To ask probably the same question in a different way, does the Sales Professional App limit by design the security permissions that can be selected or assigned to a security role (inAdvanced Settings/Security/Security Roles).

I have read that for Teams licenses (which we are considering but do not have yet), permissions control is on a trust basis so my concern is whether or not there is a trust basis for the above case also.
