Data Transfer Between Partitions : User Information

Hi,

I have a inquiry regarding data transfer between one partition to another.
From brilliant article from Mr. Murray Fife below, I know that AX has ability to export all of its content data from one partition and import it to the empty partition.

http://dynamicsaxtipoftheday.com/2014/04/03/copy-data-from-one-partition-to-another-using-the-data-import-export/

Though we have a requirement where we would like to create functionally identical partition with different set of users.

Could we achieve the requirement by simply not selecting user related table on the definition group prior to the exportation of the data?

Sincerely,

ABTS

    Hi ABTS,

Please read the comments below the blog. Tables depending on foreign key relation are not imported correctly in an environment where the record ID is already used.

You can indeed exclude user related tables during export.

The User information is stored in the next tables:

    UserInfo

    SysUserInfo

Next to this, there are also tables related to security, role centers and history:

    OMUserRoleOrganization

    SysLastValue

    SysUserLog

    SysUserProfiles

    SecurityUserRole

    SecurityUserRoleCondition

    UserInfoStartupModel

Also the tables you mentioned could be excluded. Some of these are system tables and probably not in your definition group.

It won't copy entire data from one partition to another partition correctly where FK relationship will come to picture. Make sure you can use .dat/def import process for only setup and configuration related data where FK relation does not exist.

When you export and import through .dat/def configuration make sure you have selected correct table  group.  You can avoid the certain table import/export by changing the table group property however if it is not system table.
