Attachments visibility on Dynamics 365 Customer Portal for the users having different portal roles

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi guys,

We are going to have 1 customer portal together Dynamics 365 instance.

There will be 2 roles for portal users (for example A & B). I know that if the portal users should see document attached by Dynamics 365, there should be permissions assigned as well as  "*WEB*" in particular note description.

But we have the following situation:

Dynamics 365 user wants to attach the document within case 123 notes that should be visible only for the portal users having role A.

Another time, Dynamics 365 user wants to attach the document within case 123 notes that should be visible only for the portal users having role B.

I suppose that "*WEB*"  in note description will expose the document to every portal user having the role for seeing notes.

Can  somehow be accomplished that Dynamics 365 user can decide (when attaching the document) to which roles it will be exposed?

Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

Thank you for the answer. I am not sure I understand what do you mean by add attachments to different views?

I thought attachments can only be seen in Notes section.

    Hi partner,

We could not set permissions to attachments according to different roles.

But we could create different views by different roles, and add attachments to these views.

For example, we create a view only visible for A so all the attachments in it are only able to A.

You could refer to the following articles.

    Hope it helps.

    Best Regards,

    Leo
