User date format

Posted on by 30
Hi all. We have a strange situation for one of our users in D365 Finance. The users preferences for language and date, time and number format are set to 'nb-no' and country/region is set to 'NOR'. This means that date format are 'dd.mm.yyyy' and for numbers spaces are used as thousands seperator and the decimal seperator is comma.
Suddenly, date and amount format on all forms in D365 Finance are on a different format, presumably 'en-us', meaning that dates are on format 'mm/dd/yyyy' and numbers have comma as thousands seperator and the decimal seperator is dot.
The same happens in both Chrome and Edge.

The regional and language settings on the users pc are set to Norwegian.

If another user logs in to D365F with their credentials on this users pc the everything works as expected meaning that the format from user preferences are being used. If the users logs on to D365F using Chrome Incognito mode, the date and number format works as expected meaning that the format from user preferences are being used.

We have been looking at the usage data to see if there is anything to delete but there is nothing that stands out. Has anyone experienced the same?

I have also just experienced this issue for one of my customers. It made no difference what locale the user preference was in FO - the date would always show in en-us format.
For them the error also happened in incognito
It happened at the same time for the users on both sandbox and prod.
The users with the error was in a diffent tenant than the FO tenant. A "crosstenant sync" error had happened between the two tenants - and after that was resolved it worked for the users again.
Maybe it can be of help to someone else

Stumbled across this thread whilst searching for the same issue with one user, which I have now managed to resolve...

Their primary email address had been changed in Microsoft 365 admin (from user.name@domain.onmicrosoft.com to user.name@domain.com) but was not changed in D365.
Changing to user.name@domain.com in D365 solved the issue for me.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi
Thanks for coming back to me :)
We logged at ticket with MS but not holding my breath.
They recommended deleting user and reloading, but that made no difference.  They are now suggesting we delete my user from AAD and F&O and reloading again - so we'll see. But it is an odd one, as it's only my user affected no others :(
Will let you know if this resolves the issue.

Hi. We did not log a ticket to MS support. Just before this happened we had a handfull users who wasn't able to print reports from the client. We then logged a MS ticket and they spent around 4-5 months to solve it where the users needed to spend quite much of their time to support the MS team. This time the user is happy enough to work with a different time format in the client.
Since this is happening for multiple users maybe we'll log a ticket to see what they say.

    Hi tnaess
Did you ever have a response for this one?  I am having exactly the same issue and have deleted my user and re-added, plus cleared all caches, checked system and browser settings, but no luck so far.  If you logged a ticket with MS was there a resolution?  I'd be interested in hearing :)
    Thanks! Rowan

Hi all. We tried to delete cache, but still no change. Also looked at the settings in the Microsoft 365 section. Here the regional format was set to 'English (United States)'. It's also set to that value for my user, and my user have the correct date format according to the settings in D365F. Tried to change and logged on to D365F but there were no change. I guess there might be a slight delay due to sync. Will update the post with any findings we might have.

    Hi @tnaess,

Had this strange issue in the past at a customer site. Later, found out that these settings are cascading from the Language and Regional settings in the Microsoft 365 section. The Microsoft 365 settings holds these details. It should be set to English (United States) by default. Most probably the settings for D365 FO are over-ridden from these Microsoft 365 settings. Hope this helps.

Happy to answer questions, if any.

    Hi Tnaess,
We had almost the same issue for one user, and it was related to browser caching. Like Andre mentioned, I suggest deleting the browser cache to see if it helps

    Hi tnaess,

Apologies, I missed the fact that it is working in incognito mode for this user. In case this user uses another PC, is he then also having the same issue? It might be related to some, maybe corrupted, browser cache.

As you mentioned, maybe a ticket for Microsoft Support will be the way to continue.

Hi all. Thanks for input. Yes, the user only have one account and is logging in to the correct environment. As mentioned it all works as it should when using Incognito mode. I'm guessing that resetting the user will do the trick, but then again the user loses a lot of settings. We might go to MS support with this issue then.
