Assignment of project participants in a workflow, e.g. "Review timesheet workflow!

Hi together!

I want to implement a workflow in the project management and accounting module, e.g. "Review timesheet workflow". If I assign a specific user to that workflow, the workflow works and the chosen user can review or rather approve the timesheet document.

Now I want to change the assignment to project mangers - I do not want specific user to approve the timesheet. So I change the assigment from "Users" to "Participants". Under the new Tab "Role based" I choose "Type of participants : project participants" and than "Project mangers" under "Participant".

As a project worker I have submitted a timesheet. When I logged in as project manager the timesheet did not appeared for approval - which I expected. Can somebody help me? Am I missing something?

    Hi Marco,

For this to work, you must assign someone in the "Project manager" field on your project, in the general tab.

    Cheers

    Hi Sidick,

Thanks for your comment. Good idea! I had already a project manager assigned to the project. I have even checked if the role "project manager" was assigned to the worker which is in the "project manager field" in the project.

    Best regards,

    Marco

Is there any error message or the workflow item is just pending. If it's pending, probably the batch server is not running. Have a look at the workflow history.

    Best regards.

The error message is the following:

"Stopped (error): X++ Exception: This workflow cannot continue processing because no users were retrieved for the current workflow step. Contact your system administrator.

    at SysWorkflowServiceProvider-resolveParticipant

    SysWorkflowQueue-resume"

    Thanks again, Sidick!

    Just trying all possible solutions.

Have you checked if there is a user to worker relation (for the worker being assigned as project manager on the project) being setup in the  System administration>Users>Relation button.

    Regards

    Hi Sidick!

Yes, I have checked that the user had a relation to the worker, which is the project manager, and he had as well the role assigned as project manager (under User's roles).

    Thanks again!

    Hi!

I solved the problem by setting up a line-item workflow ->" Review timesheet line-item workflow".

The setup's for both workflow are the same, though it worked just with the line-item workflow.

Just in case someone faces the same problems. This might be possible alternative...

Were you able to only create the timesheet line-item workflow?  Or, did you need to nest it within a timesheet approval workflow?

In order to use the timesheet line-item workflow, I had to create a timesheet workflow which invokes the timesheet line-item workflow.

Here the assignment with "Project participants" -> "Project manager" works. In the timesheet workflow this assignment does not work.
