Sharepoint integration with activities within a case record

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

We have a requirement where we want to use the sharepoint integration for the case management module. However, how we want to use it is not standard.

1) An activity is created with and attachments

2) Upon saving, the attachment is saved in sharepoint within the case folder (Not within CRM)

Expectation is that we can open the activity within a case (eg portal comments) and clicking on the attachment. It opens the attachment from sharepoint (Not from CRM). Is this doable?

    Hi,

This can be done (if not all but most of it). You will need to use SharePoint Rest API for this. The high level it would look like this: On create of activity, workflow will be triggered which would call a custom workflow activity. This custom workflow activity then retrieves the attachment from that activity and upload it to SharePoint. I am not yet sure on the part where it is required to open the SharePoint link directly when clicked on the attachment.

You could also refer MS CRM ADDon - Attachment Extractor which is pretty configurable and cane be used to achieve this.

    Hope this helps.
