New mobile app for Expense Reports?

I noticed the following article about a new (?) mobile app for Expense Management, which seems to require installing project operations.
 
This seems to be a bit confusing because we are planning to use expense reports not related to projects, so I an not completely sure why Project Operations is part of this new app.
 
Is that app supposed to replace the current Expense Management mobile /work space/ (which has not been updated in two years)?
 
any clarify or insight?

    Hi Zvika,
     
    There is no requirement for installing Project Operations. The new app has a connection with Dynamics 365 Finance. It requires to have a Dataverse environment linked. I do agree that it is confusing as the documentation is part of the Project Operations section on Microsoft Learn. Anyway, when you read the details, Dynamics 365 Finance is required.
     
    The new app will indeed replace the mobile workspace-based version as the mobile workspace framework is deprecated as announced a while back.
