we are a manufacturing company and we are still using the oldest version of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. During the past years there were an upgrade in 2012 and 2015, which we did not assumed.
Now many different specialist departments are undergoing change and processes need to be updated and optimized (CRM, project management and especially E-Invoices)
In fact we are faced with the question of how much time and money we need to invest in the conversion to Microsoft Dynamics 365?
Do you have any plausible opinions on this subject or have you experienced a similar situation?
This is impossible to say without collecting more data. It depends heavily of the amount of customization you've made and the quality of the design. Also, you may depending on features that aren't supported anymore and you need to completely reimplement some parts of your solution.
You should also consider what features added in AX 2012 and F&O you could benefit from. For example, you may be able to replace some customizations with an out-of-the-box solution, therefore you won't need to upgrade some code at all (but it may have impact on business processes, data upgrade and so on).
