I Have a button on the toolbar of the form,
how would I be able to show/hide it based on any condition.

You should import ribbon workbench solution on your crm instance.
Download link - www.develop1.net/.../ribbonworkbench.aspx
Once imported, Create new solution and add Machince entity into the solution. Now navigate to Settings->Customization->Click on Ribbon Workbench 2016 and open the solution.
Now to hide/show ribbon button based on condition follow below article.
