Need suggestion on CSS for hover effect on Option Set field drop-down in Portal

I was working in Portal and noticed for Option Set fields the color of the hover effect on Options are different in every browser. How to fix this and make it look same for all the browser. I tried to do in conventional way using form-control picklist class but it wasn't working. Kindly suggest the CSS for this.

You could reference a custom CSS file I believe
