Hello Experts,

Can I kindly ask you the below?

We are implementing D365 FO in UK, so I know from Org administration localisation can be selected.

But what is the purpose of 'License Configuration' -> configuration keys-> Country region features per country?

Is it like related to use localisation features? if not enabled we can not use ?

Regards,

Ramit

    Hi Ramit,

That is correct, if you don't have it enabled, you won't be able to use localisations. You can enable only the countries you want, but you will need to enable them.

Are you sure about this? is it needed in D365? we were in an impression in D365 FO only localisation function will work from legal entity setup (org admin-> legal entities)

    Hi Ramit,

In D365FO the license config keys are just for information purposes. You cannot directly modify / change them as in previous systems. That needs to be done through LCS.

So, you set them in LCS and then they become visible there.

The specific country/region features that apply to your company are then selected in the legal entity form where you can either have the country/region features applied that belong to your company address or based on the country/region that you select.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Thank you Dr. Ludwig

Does this mean, license config keys has no impact? if I dont make it enabled, still there will not be any issue to use any localisation?

    Regards,

    Ramit

    Hi Ramit,

I have not tested this scenario.

I would expect that the localizations need the license keys enabled via LCS; otherwise the license config functionality could just be deprecated.

To be absolutely sure, you could do some testing probably with a demo/test machine that you don't need for any other purpose.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    HI Ramit ,

    Here is link which says

"The Country/Regional specific features configuration keys have been deprecated in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, country/region context has replaced country/region configuration keys as the method for enabling control over country/region feature availability. Country/region configuration keys are still found in the Application Object Tree (AOT) and in the License configuration form. However, if you enable or disable a country/region configuration key, Microsoft Dynamics AX features are not enabled or disabled"

    docs.microsoft.com/.../country-regional-specific-features-configuration-key-crsecountry

that means even if you enable/ disable these keys you have no impact on the application

    Hi Ramit,

It seems you may be right, I just tried with one of the dev environment and even though IN localization was not enabled in License config I could see the IN Specific fields in GL param. I could not check this extensively if there are issues with any specific localized functionality. In all production environments, I have seen the license config enabled.

[Update]: I had not seen the link shared by Sukrut, so it is correct, you don't need to worry about the " Country region features per country" key but there are also few functionalities under 'Multiple countries/regions'. I don't know if you would still need to enable these or not. you may want to test them.

    Hi Sukrut/Vinit,

Shouldn't we ask MS then to take these things out from the form in the UI in the webclient? It does not make sense to me to show something in a form that has no effect on whatsoever.

    Hi Ludwig,

I aggress with you, even I thought it was this needed till I saw the the link shared by Sukrut and tried it myself. If we can get some info about it from MS program manager, it would be helpful to understand why this is kept.

    Hi,

I raised a ticket to MS, they said this is not in use anymore, however they recommended to enable this for particular country to avoid future issues.

    I hope this clears everything.

    Regards,

    Ramit
