Owner of a record

Hi,

When users create a new Lead record the owner of the record defaults to created by user but ideally they should be setting it to one of their team, many a times users forgets this.

Is there a way so that we can remind users to provide the team name or change the owner field in a way that it never shows any user name and being a mandatory field users cannot save the record without giving in the team name?

User's team name cannot be defaulted, since a user could have multiple teams and can create lead for either of it hence cant default any one in particular.

Please suggest how this could be done.

Thanks,

PS

    Hello,

Potentially you can block the create operation without the team assigned as an owner - nakedcrm.wordpress.com/.../

    Hello PS10,

You can block the operation using a real time workflow, if Owning Team (Team) doesn't contain data.

You can also use a Pre-Validation Plug-in. As part of the Plug-in logic you can check if the Owner is a Team and then, you can apply your validation, blocking the operation if the Owner is the Creator.

    Hope this helps you.

Try a real-time workflow that has a check condition looking for Owning Team (Team) contains data. Real-time workflows prevent the last action so if they try to save while still having their name in the owner field it will pop a message they'll have to action on.
