How can the Cost amount get so high suddenly? AX 2012

Posted on by 163

Hello

On one of the items in our AX 2012, the "Cost amount" got very high suddenly. And it's an article that hasn´t had many transactions lately.

How can it got so high?

Any suggestions?

    Hello BCC,

Can you please let us know the exact system version that you operate (build no).

Also, have you experienced something similar in the past?

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig

    Hi BCC,

It looks like the transaction is related to a sales return. Was there also a ledger entry with this enormous high amount? Can you check on the sales order line if there was a return cost price filled or a return Lot ID? Anyway as it is a 'purchased' transaction, you should be able to adjust the cost amount via the Closing and Adjustment periodic option.

    hello Junaid

Thank you for trying to help me.

The latest recent purchase cost ,was  150,21 EUR (on a P.O in 2019). And in November, the Cost amount was over 1,5 million EUR for one of that article. see pic below when two were purchased.

And the latest day the price was changed, was in 2017 .

    Its a FIFO article.

    Its a mystery.

    Hi BCC,

Please check the inventory transaction details of this product and try to track the cost origin. Which inventory costing method are you using (Weighted Average/Standard costing/FIFO)?

    Please check the following thigns:

    1. Check the cost from "Cost Explorer" under costing section to track the cost that system used it for this Sales transaction.

    2. What was the last purchase price you received of this product from Purchase Order?

    3. Can you check on release product screen if someone modified the Cost price under Manage cost section?
