Note created through workflow is not visible on Lead's Timeline

Hi there,
 
I had a business requirement that whenever a new lead is created in D365, the lead's email address should be checked against contact's email address and if there's any duplication then a note is created on Lead's timeline stating that the lead's email address is in duplication with contact's email address.
 
I have tried to create a workflow for this particular requirement but the note is not visible on timeline even though the workflow's system job shows no error.
