Hi everyone,

My situation now is I had to do upgrading from NAV 2009R2 to NAV 2013.

According to this link https://saurav-nav.blogspot.com/2012/11/nav-2013-upgrade-part-i.html, I not able to find TextFormatUpgrade2013.exe tool.

May I know the location of TextFormatUpgrade2013.exe ? Or i need to install or download anything in order for me to get this TextFormatUpgrade2013.exe tool?

And one more question, if without using this tool, meant i not able to do the upgrading? Because I had refers to another website and they all using the tool that I mentioned above.
Can somebody guide me?
Many Thanks here.

    Hi,

You can find that tool in the Product DVD not installed product.

    Path - Inside Product DVD - \UpgradeToolKit\Object Change Tools\

You can do data upgrade without this tool.

This tool is the Upgrade custom objects in NAV 2009 (50000..99999). What this tool does -

It updates references in custom objects of obsolete objects/properties like -

    1. LookupForm to LookupPage

    2. Form to Page (in Code)

    3. Dataport to Xmlport (in code or variables)

** Other properties and objects references which are not supported in NAV 2013 and higher.

Hi and thanks Saurav Dhyani for replying the above message,

Between I still have questions to ask:

    i) I able to find the TextFormatUpgrade2013.exe, but i found it in NAV 2003 but not NAV2009. Am I find it in the correct place?Because my situation is i want to do upgrading from NAV 2009 to NAV 2013

ii)As u mentioned above, not compulsory to use this tool to upgrade. So, may I know is there any alternatives way to do upgrading?

iii)TextFormatUpgrade2013.exe is only upgrade the custom objects (50000rest..99999), then how about the rest of the objects?

Sorry many questions here since I still quite confuse for doing the upgrading.

Hope you can explain the questions as i asked above and give me some suggestions.

    Many many thanks here.

    Hi,

I will try to answer your questions.

    1. You will find TextFormatUpgrade2013.exe in NAV 2013 not in NAV 2009 as change happened in 2013 (objects not supported in 2013).

    2. An alternative to upgrading objects is - manually developing pages and fix error manually related to unsupported objects in code.

    3. Yes, the tool only for custom objects. for base objects, you will compare and merge.

Hi and thanks for the reply,

I had already successful do the upgrading to NAV 2013.

Between I now had try to upgrade from NAV 2013 to NAV 2017, but i had faced one error after I clicked tools > Sync.Schema For all tables >Force. After that, I also clicked on Data Upgrade. However, it prompts out this error as below:

The following SQL error was unexpected:

Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'Session Unique ID'; table 'xxxx',Active Session'; column does not allow nulls.Insert fails.

    The statement has been terminated.

I had try to use the powershell (Sync-NAVTenant),but i still not able to solve the above issue.

So do you have any suggestion on how to solve it?

    Thanks.

You have to upgrade from NAV 2013 > NAV 2015 first. Then you can upgrade to NAV 2017.
