Enterprise Portal redirection to a maintenance page

Hi All,

I am hoping someone can please provide some steps on how to redirect the AX 2012 R3 Enterprise Portal website to a Maintenance Page that we would like to create.

We need to push out a code update in the next week and would like to advise our Enterprise Portal customers of the outage via the redirected page.

I have done some research however have not had any success in redirecting the main site.

If anyone has an advice here that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Nick

You would have to setup at sharepoint level.

    Hi Ajit,

That is correct. We are running Sharepoint 2010 on our reporting server. I believe the Sharepoint Central Administration area is where the redirect may need to be set. If you or anyone else knows how to redirect the main Enterprise Portal Site using this that would be very helpful.

    Thanks,

    Nick

The question is if you take down the whole SharePoint. If you do, any setup in the turned off SharePoint won't help you.

You can, though, use a special file app_offline.htm - ASP.NET will redirect all request to it.

You could also change the DNS record to point to your maintenance web site instead of EP. Don't forget that DNS records are cached, so you want to reduce TTL (Time TO Live) in advance.

Obviously it's nothing specific to Dynamics AX, so this isn't the best place for such a discussion.

Thanks a lot for the advice Martin. Apologies for placing the post here however as it is the AX Enterprise Portal that I am dealing with I was hoping someone in the group would have some feedback for me.

We don't need to take it down altogether and your suggestion is precisely what I was looking for.

Appreciate you knowledge on this matter!

    Nick
