Hi,
I am new to D365 and am working with a setup as application consultant. Where do I find the AOT in D365? Do I need Visual Studio just to watch the tables and projects?
Many thanks for any help.
Anna
Thanks Andre.
Hi Amd,
Please don't change the topic of this question. You can find your answer on similar questions on this forum. The MSDyn365FO dev tools are pre configured on downloadable or deployable VMs.
Guys, we install VS 2017, from LCS , but not getting any toots for D365 FO, any idea about it?
André is correct. Could you please start post new questions for:
1) Restoring database to local dev VM
2) Problems with installing source code in dev and doing model refresh in Visual Studio.
When posting the new questions, please provide as much information as possible, such as exact description of all steps you have taken, and possible links to documentation that you might have followed. as well as screenshots of any error messages that you might encounter. Thanks!
Hi Loc,
You are adding complete new questions on an already answered topic. Can you please create new questions (one post per question) on the forum?
Actually, we try to connect VS to D365. We did change the database name in the DynamicsDevConfig.xml but VS keeps using the local account and not the account in VS.
Here the error:
Do you know how we can specify the login in the DynamicsDevConfig.xml?
We also have a problem with the models. We have this error when refreshing the models in the menu: Dynamics 365 > Model Management > refresh models
As a result, the application explorer does not show anything:
I think that we're missing the files for the AOS service as explain here:
http://dev.goshoom.net/en/2017/02/ax7-development-tools-without-vm/
However, it doesn't indicate how to specify the login.
Use the Admin provisioning tool to make yourself as the administrator of the D365FO system on the machine. You should see this tool on the desktop.
You don't need to login to D365FO to synchronize the database, instead you do it from Visual Studio. You don't need to login to VS to do it.
VS might ask you to login because it has to be activated with an account (O365 or Microsoft account) that has Visual Studio licenses associated to it. But I think you can use it 60 days for free.
If you still have issues, please share more details and some screenshots.
Hi Nikolaos,
I have a virtual machine installed but when I want to synchronize database, I cannot connect, due to a wrong user account. VS is using a login like "local machine name/ Administrator"
I set it up my customer web url in the dynamics config files but I don't see how to set up the used log in, which should be jonathan.xxxxx@mycustomer.com
do you have any clue on that ?
The downloadable VHD includes the standard system.
You can then connect it to VSTS / Azure DevOps and get the latest code, or manually import models in the system.
You can also copy customer database there if you want to.
Hi Martin,
Your answer is very interesting. Do you know if the local VHD will have the customer database / AOT (with all the objects) or if the AOT in VS will just be a standard one ?
