    Hi Niralee Raval,

    The cheapest option is to build a custom portal yourself but this article presents alternative options.

    I would disagree with the comment given that building your own portal is cheaper. It is often seen that the cost of custom solution is more expensive than purchasing portal licenses.

    You can check Adoxio since they have taken the last open source version of portals and built on top of it.

    May I know what is the driver to make you think of a another provider?

    Hello Niralee,

    If you are searching a solution that is efficient, easy to use and cost effective as an alternative of Dynamics portal. Then there is one solution available, it is Dynamics 365 customer portal of CRMJetty. It is easily configurable and user friendly and comes with functionalities of managing documents, cases, schedules, accounts as well as order sheets absolutely seamless.

    Hi Niralee

    I have worked with a number of solutions from Custom Dev Portals to Dynamics 365 portals and to be honest the Dynamics 365 Portal is still the best option for a number of reasons;

    1. I don't need to be concern about hosting
    2. I don't need to be concerned about security as Microsoft Takes care of it because the Portal is hosted on their Azure environment
    3. I don't need to worry about load. Custom dev solutions often run into this problem, where concurrent connections or large upload and download can cause major problems with your site stability.
    4. If you really consider your alternatives, you could custom Dev from Scratch, so yes you won't have to license BUT... you will have the issue of managing a server, security issues and eventually, the cost will land up more than using a Dynamics 365 Portal.
    5. Finally, the major plus for me is the Dev time on a portal is much faster as the basic structure as well as the connection to CRM is already in place. Creating and exposing new forms, fields, and entities only take a few minutes.

    I would advise your client as follows; Pay the $500 per month for the portal and save on the rest of the costs that comes with maintaining a server, IT team, security risks or Purchase the Dynamics 365 CE plan 1 which comes with a Dynamics 365 Customer Sel-Service Portal for Free

    I hope this help you in making the right decision..
