Relations between financial dimension sets and account structures

I am looking into the relationship between financial dimension set and an account structure. For example in a budget entry I require to provide a account structure. But when running budget analysis I need to populate a financial dimension set. How should I look at these 2 things? Do the need functional alignment, can I link then somewhere I have not found yet? I am curious to hear feedback on this and how you setup these entities in AX 2012 R3?

As per my understanding financial dimension set and Account Structure are two different setup

Account Structure is related to legal entity Ledger setup and Financial Dimension Set is related to Financial Statement Report setup

Account Structure setup is related to how financial transaction will be created in the system

and financial dimension set is related to report data showing purpose

Please follow following links for more details

    Financial dimension set

    Account Structure

    technet.microsoft.com/.../hh209188.aspx

Please verify and update with you findings

    Hi Bjorn,

Nitesh is correct. These are different. The way you have to enter financial data and different views on it do not require a relation between an account structure and dimension sets. Also for budgetting you might use e.g. department budgets in stead of budgets per main account and all dimensions.

When needed you can align the setup of these entities.
