How to do a double selection in an subgrid - lookup?

Hello,

Maybe my question subject is not completely clear :). What I mean is the following situation:

I have the entity Account

I have the custom entity "Clauses"

I have the custom entity "Contract" which contains the Account and contains Clauses

I have the custom entitty "Contract exceptions" which contains Account, Clause and Contract.

In the entity Contract is field 1:1 Account and 1:N Clause

So in an contract 1 Customer is linked and there could be multiple Clauses.

In the Contract form is a subgrid for Contract Exceptions, where you can add the Exceptions. Here you can choose to show only related records in the settings of the subrgrid. But I want to see here related records to the contract and records that contains Clauses that are linked.

When I add an exception, I want to lookup up in alle the exceptions only those who have the same Account and where the Clause is one of the Clauses linked to the contract, is this possible? And I don't want to see all the Clauses.

Thank you in advance!!

I have the same question (0)

you're right, your question isn't completely clear but I'll give it a shot :P

    - We're looking at a Contract record

    - From this record we're looking at the related Exceptions, a 1:N relationship, so this is a sub-grid we're seeing.

    - In our sub-grid we want to see all the Exceptions for this specific Contract... and this is where you've lost me.

How are Clauses linked to Exceptions, is it N:1? If it's N:1 it's just a field and you'd expose the column in the view. So I'm assuming it's a 1:N and you want to see all the Clauses that are related to the Exceptions that are related to this Contract we have open... If that's the case then you are out of luck, this is not possible with out of box tools.

You need to find a middle ground to perform this task. For example from the Exceptions record, create a Quick View Form to the parent Contract, and then have a sub-grid showing all of the 1:N Clauses

    I hope this helps

    Thank you for your answer.

    You answered:

This is indeed what I want to do. If I want to select a new record in the subgrid I want to see an automatic  filtering on multiple fields with 1:N relationship. Is this possible with an customization? How do you build this? Do you have an example or info to it?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hey BrutusG,

Since it's not available with OOB tools, I think you'll need to get feedback from a developer on how to achieve what you're hoping through web resources or something else. Not my area of expertise.

    best of luck

To achieve this in your subgrid, you can use a custom filter on the lookup field of the Contract Exceptions. This filter should limit the results to show only those exceptions that are associated with the same Account and have Clauses that are linked to the current Contract. This ensures that when you add an exception, you only see relevant Clauses without displaying all possible Clauses. This setup can be done using JavaScript or a custom plugin to apply the filter logic.

    Hello User,

It’s clear that you don’t want to display all records in the subgrid, and instead, you’re looking to apply additional filters based on Account and Clauses. However, to better understand and implement your requirements, we need a more specific logical condition. Could you please provide further details on the criteria or rules you'd like us to apply when filtering these records?

    Thank you,
    Amit Katariya
