Hi,

What is the purpose of the vendor/ledger reconciliation report found in General Ledger.   Is the purpose of this to balance the sub ledger with the GL?  Should this always balance to 0?   I have many vendor/ledgers that have differences.

    Hi,

    The purpose of this report is indeed to check whether the main and the sub ledgers balance.

    If you have differences, please check the vouchers that cause the difference and record corrective vouchers if required.

    The purpose of this reconciliation is to identify if the sub-ledger balance matches with Ledger balance. If there are any differences, then those differences are identified.

    Ideally this should always be 0. But if there is a difference, then it means that manual General Journal entries were posted in the main accounts which are connected with sub-ledgers.

    To avoid having this issue in future, I will recommend to check "Do no allow manual entry" in the main account table.

    This will avoid the problem in the future.
