Create Activity out of Workflow

Hi,

I am new to Dynamics 365. I am trying to create an Activity out of an Workflow.

I was searching on google and stuff, but I could not find something that would help me out.

Is there a simple way to create for an example:

If Field “xy” is filled create an activity for user “max” - go shopping.

I am happy to hear from you,

Julian

To help you even further, here's a few docs about workflows you can use a a reference guide:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../workflow-processes

    docs.microsoft.com/.../configure-workflow-steps

    docs.microsoft.com/.../best-practices-workflow-processes

RE: Create Activity out of Workflow

    Hello Julian,

You can use the workflow designer to create this workflow.

    1. To into 'Processes' in the 'Settings' area
    2. Add a new process
    3. Choose category 'Workflow'
    4. Select on which entity to start these workflows
(Workflows can ONLY start on records, not out of the blue)
    5. In the workflow designer, use the button 'Add Step' to add a 'Check Condition' step
Click the blue hyperlink labeled '(click to configure)' which will open up a query window

    6. Use the query window to specify your condition and after that click Save and Close
Like you say, "If Field XY contains data"
    7. In the large gray area, click just underneath the newly added condition where it says "Select this row and click Add Step" to make that row blue
    8. Click 'Add Step' again and this time choose to add a 'Create Record' step

    9. Specify which entity you want to create (I've used Task as an example) and use the 'Se Properties' button to enter values for the records fields

    10. For activation, choose one of these options
      1. 'As an ondemand process'
Enables you to run the workflow when ever you want by using the 'Run Workflow' button on entity forms
      2. 'Record created'
Runs the workflow automatically when a record has been created of the type you run your workflow on
      3. Record status changes
      4. Record is assigned
      5. Record fields change
      6. Record is deleted
    11. Ensure to set the 'Scope' to organization if you want EVERYONE to be able to use this workflow, otherwise set it to User (so only you, the owner, can run it) or Business Unit (so only people in the same BU can use it)
    12. Save and activate your workflow

Hope this helps you on your way!
