What is the status for printing 1099 NEC forms from Dynamics GP 2018?
AP person says separate software had to be purchased last year because GP couldn't do it (Just started here in Aug)
Thank you Andrea,
I'll definitely go thru the blog post's recommendation on the fix and report back.
Hi Beat,
There is a problem in the PM40104 table for a few of the MISC (TEN99TYPE of 3 in the PM40104) records. We haven't replicated the data problem upon upgrade internally yet, but we've seen enough cases on this that I added this scenario (what we see in the table and how to resolve) as Question/Answer #7 to the Payables Forms Changes 2021 YE blog:
Hope this helps!
There has been a change to the layout of 1099 Forms required by IRS for the 2021 forms. It is now necessary to print the Nonemployee Contributor version of the 1099 Form with 3 records per page rather the 2 as on the previous versions and to achieve this you must install the the 2021 Year End Update latest release MicrosoftDynamicsGP18-KB4576801-ENU.
Following some testing I ran at a customer site, when pulling in a client that had more than a few default fields in the 1099, GP caused an error to pop-up about duplicate keys in a Temp Table:
First I thought it was an isolated vendor only, but soon as I moved to a few more, it happened again. Every time there were more than a few fields (4 or 5), it would pop-up with the same error..
Not sure what's actually causing this, and I might have to run some DEXSQL trace to find out.
Hi Andrea,
Yes I had indeed checked that as my first go-to option for not printing the proper format, but they hadn't had a modified version of the report.. the confusion was coming that one customer I tested it was still on the Fall release (18.4.1361) and on the other one I had used the 'alignment form' option, and it was only printing 1 sample out on the top of the page .. Like for the Check alignment form, it would be great if the 1099's sample would fill the entire page, not just the top :-)
All good, I can confirm that the canned 1099 report from 18.4.1384 is working fine.
Beat, the first thing I suggest you do is to make sure you are printing the 'canned' version of the 1099 NEC form. Last year, most people were modifying this report and if you/they are still marked to print the modified NEC you may still be seeing 2 on the page instead of 3. I talk about this in Q/A 6 of this blog:
AWalshGA, please make sure you are testing on 18.4.1384. The 3 page forms were released with the 2021 Year-End Update. So, if you are on a previous version of 18.4, you won’t get the 3-page forms (see Q/A 4 in the blog linked to above). If you ARE testing on 18.4.1384, then double check that you are printing the canned report as well per Q/A 6 in the blog.
Hope this helps!
I'm trying to figure out where the 3-part report is too.. so far 2 customers I upgraded are currently testing 18.4.1384 (YE update) and I had the impression that it was still the old report layout.
It would be great if we could have an update on that soon.
Thanks
UPDATE: after some digging into the process and printing a few vendor's 1099-NEC reports, I realized that it would indeed print 3 times per page, as it is supposed to be, just was confused because when you're using the "alignment form" option, it would only print once on 1 page.
So the default report for 1099 Laser NEC in GP 18.4.1384 is printing correctly.
Hi Terry, thanks for the thorough response. I just updated a customer to 18.4 and am struggling to find the 3-part form for the 1099-NEC Laser. I am using the out of the box GP form 1099 Laser Nonemployee Compensation and have printed some to screen and there are clearly only 2 per page. My customer received their 1099 NEC forms from their forms vendor and they are 3-per page. Any ideas on how to find the 3 per page format?
Hi Deanne,
GP 2018 can produce 1099-NEC forms out of the box. That said, recent changes by the IRS require you be on GP 18.4.1361 (October 2021 release). If your company was not on a version of GP that supported the new (for 2020) 1099-NEC last year, that could explain why they had to buy different software to make that work.
Hope this helps.
Hi Deanne,
Thanks for the question on the forums today. We had a 1099 NEC year end update last year so there was no reason to purchase other software unless maybe in your company it was decided you could not install the update we provided? I guess I'm not sure.
There will be another year end update this year for 2021 and the NEC 1099 form is changing to a 3-part form. This update should release next week for you to install.
Here is the year end blog series that will cover all the changes in year end
community.dynamics.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-gp---2021-year-end-blog-series-schedule
Here is the year end page I list out the changes too and the download will be located
docs.microsoft.com/.../usgpye2018_396
If you do not install your own updates as a company, you may want to reach out to your partner as well.
Thanks
Terry Heley
