    Hi lally,

For AX2012 you have the localization portal that can be accessed through the customer source website here: mbs.microsoft.com/.../GFMLocalizationPortalMC

In addition, there are some Information available on TechNet here:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../jj730942.aspx

For "AX7" you can find localization infos here:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../country-region

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Thanks Ludwig and Vilmos ,

I have already gone through the portals what you shared ,but they are not what I'm looking . For example , I required the user manuals of specific scenarios of localization functionality .

Do not we have any MS portals for the same ? If yes , how local  resources learn the MS product ?

    Hi lally,

I guess what you are looking for is not available.

The documents merely illustrate and present the country-specific features.

They do, however, not provide you some additional background information.

If I take my home country Germany as an example, you will certainly find some information about what we call GDPDU here. What this GDPDU is all about, where you have to submit it to and the regulations behind all that stuff is not included in the localization files.

As a result, you regularly have to get a local AX expert involved if you want to setup the different country-specific features correctly. You can try the setup yourself based on the materials provided. Yet, the risk that you overlook something that you might not be aware of is huge.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

I completely agree with you that domain knowledge is completely different compared with ERP product . Even we are strong at Finance domain , it is difficult to configure if we do not know how to configure ERP product. If we do not have the localization files then how to configure the ERP product for local gaps/audit requirements.

The point here is how do you become a local AX expert ,if we do not have enough information/user manuals to learn the localization .  Even expert also should follow the localization manuals only to configure the product.

As a localization learner if I want to learn the AX localizations ,what is the best practice to follow ?

    Hi lally,

Your question how to become a local expert is difficult to answer.

In my opinion you have to have some local knowledge about the regulatory structures, local accounting regulations, taxes, payment regulations and so on before you are able to become a local AX expert.

AX is only the tool to implement what is required locally.

Even if you know all local AX features, you run the risk that you miss something important if you are not familiar with all the local tax, accounting, ... rules and regulations.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

From the portal mentioned above .......mbs.microsoft.com/.../GFMLocalizationPortalMC ........you can From this portal, you can view reports for designated countries.

These reports contain the following information:

    - Currently planned to be released localization features list for any designated country

    by version

    - View and access links related to released country-specific localized features for any

    designated country by version

    - View and access links to documentation related to specific countries or specific

    localization features

    - View information related to country certification, registration and reports.

As a random  example  - here is a link for Brazil mbs.microsoft.com/.../Brazil.html

Within that link there are many other links by topic, but in most cases these are tucked in what's new update lists. or worse, may no longer exist.

Otherwise maybe contact the local Microsoft office for the specific  localisation

I agree AX is only the tool to implement what is required locally.

The question is other way that even you are strong at Local knowledge about taxes, audit, accounting regulations , if you do not have appropriate AX localization manuals then how to configure the system as per local requirements by Local knowledgeable resource , I believe which might be nightmare to have the expected results .
