Cannot import en premise solution into 365

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by 95

Any attempt to import a solution gives me the following error: You do not have {0} permission to access {1) records. Error code 80040220.

I have elevated my permissions such that I should be able to do everything but this is still failing and I don't know where to look for any further assistance. Are there logs (there's no 'Download Log' button on the dialog)?

Although my userid had Admin rights I now discover that the Team of which it was a member did not have the System Administrator role checked.

I'm a tad dismayed the error messages didn't convey that, but hey, I'm cooking and thanks all for your input.

The Solution zip I am trying to import is from an on premises 8.0. I'm Admin in both systems.

I can create an empty Solution in the Cloud but cannot export:

This looks like a security role issue.

Please can you confirm the following:

    • Both your environment are on premises?
    • Do you have the same role in both environments?
    • Have you tried to create or export solution on the target to see if you have enough privilege?

RE: Cannot import en premise solution into 365

I tried a different Admin user, - getting the same error.

On D365 instance, I tried to create an Entity which I intended to form part of a solution and got this error:

    5050.Untitled.png

And the details below. I don't know what other permissions I need to grant! Thanks.

RE: Cannot import en premise solution into 365

Not sure , did you tried with different System Admin user ? Are you able to create and export solution in the target instance ? Check once , if you are able to create and export solution then you should have access of import solution as well I believe .

Also try to import different solution with few component  to make sure whether you can import different solution  ,may be the solution you are trying to import have some issue.

Should've mentioned: my Solution was exported from en Premise 8.0 and importing into Dynamics 365 V9.1.0.5820.

    Hi Johnny,

Yes, I've already elevated myself, Promoted to Admin with roles as System Admin and System Customizer.

One thing that looks odd is the way these options are greyed; is that significant (nothing stops me clicking into them)?

Not sure what you mean by "In addition, could you provide more records info for reference if you changed to administrator while the issue exists". This is all I see every time the Import  fails:

    Hi Chevva,

Have you elevated your D365 security role as system administrator to try the solution import? The error seems to be related with entity record permission.

    support.microsoft.com/.../permission-error-80040220-importing-or-deleting-solution-in-dynamics-3

In addition, could you provide more records info for reference if you changed to administrator while the issue exists. Thanks.
