Access to data in backend tables

Hi,

As I work more with D365 F&O,  I am seeing that some of the data you require to build reports or whatever live in the backend tables of the database.

How are you able to access that info, if there is not already a prebuilt export to bring it into excel or the BYOD database?

It seems you need to build a custom export and then have that added to your program.  Is there a guide or process on doing that, or is the another way to link to the backend tables (as read only) to extract data?

Is Data Lakes something that does this? (I have never worked with data lakes before)

Thanks, Trevor

Access to data in backend tables
    Hi,

Does anyone know if Azure data lakes also would have attachments in the export?  Like if you have an invoice attached to a line item, could you also export the attachment?

    Thanks,

Hi - Do you know f you can have a BYOD database and a Azure Data Lake at the same time.  Or can you only have one or the other?

RE: Access to data in backend tables

Hi Trevor, In addition to Andre's comment, For BYOD, we need to export data from D365 F&O explicitly by adding data entities in a data project in Data Management Workspace. However, in Azure Data lake, export is not required, we need to activate the tables that need to be exported. D365 F&O tables Data will be synced in Data Lake automatically. Currently, there is a limit of 350 tables that can be activated for Azure Data Lake.

    Hi Trevor,

Indeed, export to Azure Data Lake would be your answer. You can read more about this starting here: learn.microsoft.com/.../azure-data-lake-ga-version-overview
