Hi,
I am creating a new sales order. I choose the order type to Sales Order. After finishing all customer details, line details, site warehouse etc, when i am saving it, the status is not changing to Approved, like it changed to approved in Purchase order. Also even after i am confirming the order, still the status is showing open order. system is not showing any error message.

Sales order doesnt work like that.

A status 'Approved' would mean that there is a workflow involved. Out of the box, sales orders don't have an approval workflow support like it is with purchase orders.
On the sales orders, we only have the next status options: Open order, Delivered, Invoiced, Canceled.
I agree with the below comments, we have only below status for sales order:
Open Order - Created and Confirmed Sales order's status
Delivered - Shipped or Dispatched Sales Orders (after dispatch)
Invoiced - Invoiced Sales Orders(after invoicing)
Canceled - Canceled Sales Order (after cancellation)
