Dear All,

i have query regarding EDT extension.

basically ax will allow only 2 decimals.but i need 3 decimals for all amounts (example:10.567.....same value should flow every where without rounding)..as per my knowledge to achieve this requirement we need to change the EDT property(no of decimals to 3).the parent EDT is AmountCur for all.i have created extension for that EDT, but i am not able change the property (no of decimals).

is there any way to achieve 3 decimals in ax.suppose if i rise ticket to Microsoft..will they help for over layer?

Thanks in advance.

kartheek.

    Hi,

Base EDT has property named No if decimals is extensible.

If this property value is true then you can extend and change the number of decimals.

Take a look at this document: community.dynamics.com/.../number-of-decimals-in-entire-application

    Hi  Karthik,

No Of Decimals isExtensible property of EDT AmountCur  is false, then you cannot expand and change it.

Changing decimals could cause rounding problems in finances or inventory, so these must be evaluated by Microsoft to ensure that they do not affect the deeper.

You can apply a request to Microsoft to ensure appropriate extension support is added to the product for your scenario.

also note in every PU update a lot of EDT's are made extensible, would recommend to visit

    docs.microsoft.com/.../whats-new-platform-update-31

First of all, you can only change nr of decimals on EDT that is not derived from any other EDT. AmountCur derives from Amount, which derives from Money. And, the "root" EDT must be marked as extensible by Microsoft.

Money is a system level EDT and not available in AOT, and not possible to extend.

You can create an extensibility request for Microsoft (in LCS) and ask them to make this EDT extensible. In the extensibility request you need to describe your business requirement. Microsoft may or might not approve your request.

They will never help / enable you to do overlayerings. They will only make changes in the product so that it's possible to extend in new scenarios.

If Microsoft approve the extensibility request, is that only available to the requestor or to all the D365FO customers?

All customers get the same D365 version, so also the new extension points / capabilities are available for everyone. There are no customer specific versions from Microsoft.
