Rolling current or latest purchase price to standard cost

Hi all!

Generic question:  how do I create a cost roll to take the latest purchased price for purchased components and compare to standard cost? I imagine this can be exported and then analyzed in Excel and uploaded back to AX - is that correct?

Thanks in advance!

Pete

    Hi Pete,

There is no automation to change the standard cost based on the latest purchase price. Out of the box, the revaluations are manual. If you need an automation, you have to consider a customization. Also note that sometimes the cost of a product includes more then only a purchase price, like transportation costs.

    Hi Pete,

Do I understand you correctly that you want to take the last purchase price and use it as a new standard cost price?

If so, why do you need standard costing?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hi Dr. Reinhard!  I believe I framed the question incorrect.  I am using standard costing, but for the year end cost roll, I wish to roll the latest purchased price to the new standard cost but of course do some analysis and tweaking before rolling it.  I believe the correct term is to create a Cost Version for purchased parts only?

    Hi jedi008,

Here is a blog post that describes you you can upload your standard cost prices and activate them.

The issue is, how to identify and export the last purchase price for your items.

One possibility is that you export the data from your existing costing version. This one can include the last purchase price provided that this item parameter has been enabled.

    The next screenprint exemplifies this.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

Yes, I want to do a manual cost roll - so I guess I am asking how to create that cost version.  I am looking for some general direction and not so much an encompassing solution.  Please know my total AX experience is mere days!

    Hi jedi008,

Here is a very short post that illustrates how to setup a costing version:

You can find more information on MS docs

    Best regards,
