Labels not shown in Unified Dev Environment

Hi folks,

last week I deployed my first "unified Dev Environment" via PowerPlatform and connected my Visual Studio against this environment and everything works fine at the moment, but....
The Labels were not shown.
I deployed me customized packages where the label files are in, but they are not shown yet:

What did I wrong?

    Hello Stefan

I had a similar problem and the error was that the windows account name had a space so I had to create another admin user account with no space configure the VS and do the deployment, this worked for me.

if anyone else comes across this problem, i think i just found the solution.
as stated before, this only happens if you set your own custom metadata folder path in the config as seen here:

i have set my custom metadata folder to point to the version control workspace.
now the problem is, when building the model, VS2022 AddIn will generate the output of the resources binary into your Local\Microsoft\Dynamics365\RuntimeSymLinks\DEV\Module folder instead of the specified metadata folder path.

if you now manually copy the Resources folder that contains the compiled labels to your metadata folder and deploy to online environment, the labels will show up in your application.

i think this is either a bug right now, or i have configured my setup wrong. what i really dont want is to link the workspace to the symlink folder, because we, as a partner, will always have the same model names across different projects - so this would clash

Thanks for your reply, Stefan. I marked your answer which is great learning for users with possible the same issue in future.

    Hi,
I wanted to let you know that I found the solution. I had selected the wrong folder for my custom metadata. After correcting this, everything works fine for me.

    Hi Stefan,

    A few suggestions:
    1. If you are in an UDE below version 10.0.39 or 10.0.40 and if you don't have the Build labels option then you need to build the models explicitly to ensure the labels are built because label build is a part of the model build in this case.

    2. If you are on 10.0.39 or higher then the screen clip mentioned by Andre is correct where you can explicitly mention the specific language label or build all the labels explicitly. You will have to build the labels alongwith the models for the labels to appear.

Another observation that we noticed with labels is you need to add the label equivalent in the en-us language along with the non en-us labels. For example, if we add a label called Product Lot in en-in then we need to add an equivalent in the en-us language too for the labels to work.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Stefan,

This procedure also restarts the environment. We can't suggest more at this moment on this forum. Do you have another UDE environment where you can try the same?

You can try to run a full DB sync on the linked cloud environment. You can start that process from Visual Studio like you could run this option on other development environments.

    Hi André,

Yes, I selected this option with "All" and I builded the whole models.

    Hi Stefan,

Are you sure that all languages are included in the package? When performing a build in a UDE environment, there is now also an option to select which language to build. Was that set to All? Or maybe it was having a wrong language setting?
Did you build the whole model instead of only the project or solution?
